Achieving Straight Smiles And Lasting Confidence

Our office specializes in various kinds of braces. Learn more about braces for all ages below!

Types Of Braces

Thanks to today’s advances in orthodontic technology, Peachtree Orthodontics can provide you with more options when it comes to wearing braces. While regular metal braces are still widely used, clear braces are becoming increasingly popular, as well as removable appliances that can be used for mild cases of misaligned teeth.

Traditional Metal Braces

Traditional metal braces are the most common type of braces and are smaller and more comfortable today. Made of high-grade stainless steel, metal braces straighten your teeth using metal brackets and archwires. With metal braces you have the option of adding colored elastics (rubber bands) for a more unique and colorful smile.

Ceramic Braces

Ceramic braces are made of clear materials and are therefore less visible on your teeth than metal braces. For this reason, ceramic braces are used mainly on older teenagers and adult patients who have aesthetic concerns. While they are visually less prominent, they do require more attention to oral hygiene as ceramic braces are larger than metal braces. One drawback is that they’re more fragile and the elastic ties can discolor between orthodontic visits with certain foods and smoking.

Clear Braces

Clear or plastic braces are less noticeable than metal braces. However, the material of some of these braces stains much easier than metal braces. No matter the option you choose, clear braces will help to ensure your long-lasting oral health and confidence. Not every patient qualifies for clear braces options, but for those who do, they are an excellent solution.

Invisible Braces

Clear appliances, such as Invisalign®, use a series of invisible, removable, and comfortable aligners to straighten your teeth. This means you can eat and drink what you want while in treatment while brushing and flossing are less of a hassle. The aligners are comfortable and have no metal to cause mouth abrasions during treatment.

Braces for Young Children and Teens

It’s imperative to correct orthodontic problems as soon as they present themselves. Because children’s and teenager’s bodies are still developing, it’s much easier to treat orthodontic problems during this time than it is to treat and correct them during adulthood. Depending on the case, there are more options than ever available for orthodontic treatment.

While braces may not be the most fun experience, many advances have been made to make the experience as enjoyable as possible.

Braces for Adults

From straightening teeth to fixing uncomfortable problems such as crossbites, braces can be an excellent way to get the smile of your dreams. Before you commit to getting braces, however, you do need to make sure you are ready for the commitment.

In order to have the most successful treatment possible, you’ll need to have availability for appointments every 4 to 6 weeks. Additionally, you will need to make adjustments to your oral hygiene and eating habits. It can take months or even years to see results; this is because adults’ teeth change more slowly than children’s or teenagers’ teeth.

If you are considering braces, request an appointment with our office today so we can go over your options!

Eating with Braces

Don’t worry, you’ll be eating popcorn and snacking on potato chips again in no time! However, before you can start enjoying some of the treats you love, you will need to take special care to avoid any foods that could damage your new appliances.

Take Care of Your Appliances

Damaged appliances can increase the length of your treatment process, so be sure to take care of all your appliances. Your teeth and jaw can only move into their correct positions if you consistently wear the rubber bands, headgear, retainer, or other appliances prescribed by your doctor.
